Kibra Boda Boda SACCO

Background

Mr Patrick Mulusa, the Chairman of Kibra Boda Boda SACCO, is an avid saver and a promoter of digitization. He has been using the Wakandi app with other members of Kibra Boda since the last year. We got a chance to interview him about his experience with Wakandi and what changes it has brought to his group.

The challenge of inadequate tracking of transactions and balances

SACCOs are built and run on trust and unity. Members faced challenges as it was hard to keep a solid track record of activities performed by them. When was the contribution made? What was the amount? What was the source of payment? These questions created a lack of trust and unity amongst the members.

Furthermore, I also wanted to bring a solution to them so they can check and confirm their balances to avoid any distrust. As the Chairman of the group, it was my duty unify the members and build their faith into our leadership.

We made the growth pathway clear with Wakandi

I am excited to say that we have achieved a boost in our savings, collecting 400k in our bank account since we started using the system. We can now manage transactions and balances online without needing to go through lots of paperwork, which really took us hours to complete. Members are eager to view the bank statements at the end of every month.

Apart from our contributions, our SACCO easily manages all the active loans and loan applications made by the members. Our loan officers can track which loan has been disbursed, completely paid, or needs a follow-up.

Wakandi has helped us bring unity amongst our members as every data is presented crystal clear and they are gaining a clear vision in the SACCO’s leadership.

How the future look like?

We are now looking at a future that is full of growth and more income as we continue to digitize our finances with Wakandi. We have been allocated a small piece of land by our MCA for being more organized and effective. On this land, we would like to put up a car wash as a Sacco and employ young and talented people from our community to generate additional income. All thanks to Wakandi to help us go digital.
