The challenge of long working hours and tedious processes

We, members of the Karen Supreme Boda Transcoop used to meet twice a week for our periodic contributions and to update our financial records. To do this, we used to spend significant hours collecting the deposits and updating the records in the books. Once done, we had to send these updates on our WhatsApp group, so everybody was updated.  

This was a big challenge for every one of us as we had to spend 2-3 hours during the meeting. This means less time spent working and lower earnings.  

Moreover, as we had to manage everything manually, we faced various challenges such as data entry errors, duplications and calculating errors. I have received many complaints about incorrect or incomplete records in the past. For me, this had to be solved!

Wakandi made information available in real-time

We joined Wakandi recently and started using their app to manage our finances. Instead of recording numbers manually and typing on WhatsApp, we can now store them digitally with better accuracy. I am glad to say that the tasks which took hours are now being done in minutes and some even in seconds.  

Me and other admins are using the Wakandi app to log deposit and loan-related transactions and calculate interest and balances on the go. We don’t need to spend hours or meet physically just to get the balances checked. Everything is available right on our systems and smartphones like our balances. For those members who don’t have a smartphone, they can dial the USSD codes and get the records instantly. 

With Wakandi, we have managed to reduce the number of complaints on wrong balance updates by a huge margin. Our transactions and calculations are finally being recorded automatically.

How the future look like?

As we interviewed Mr Mutisya, he was glad to say that both admins and members of his group are quite happy with the decision to use Wakandi. He said,

We are delighted to hear such feedback from Mr Mutisya. This not only tells us how satisfied they are with the app but also inspires us to improve their experience in the coming time.  

Mr Mutisya also wishes to extend this partnership with Wakandi to get more affordable financial services in the coming years. We are already on track of offering such services on the app and promise to fulfil the wishes of our customers soon. 

Since we went live this month, a lot of good things have happened.
